New Beginnings

Number five on the long list of new year resolutions...

I got a job.. a big girl job.. that's not at the mall and pays more then $7.35 an hour! I will be working in the Office of Admissions at SU as an interim admissions counselor. This is perfect for my life right now! A temporary position that will last about 6 months to get me going and give me some great experience annnnd to build my resume! I am very excited about this new beginning!

Tuesday afternoon I had an interview with a few people from the admissions office and by Tuesday evening I received a phone call from the Director of Admissions offering me the position and of course I accepted! Tomorrow will be my first day as a big girl in the professional world! And that 8:15am start is going to come awfully early! But I am very excited and ready to embark on this new beginning!

Anyway, happy hump day everyone! Tonight I will be tuned in for the season premieres of Cougartown and Ugly Betty, can't wait for Glee to start..annnd tomorrow is Greys! Then of course I need to get to bed fairly early so I can be up bright and early tomorrow to start my new job!! yay!! :)

Happy Monday

Yesterday was the only day I have to work for the next 2 weeks, pretty annoying. The gap and lenscrafters haven't been giving me very many hours so I have to find something to do with my life all day. Today I got a few things done..the dishes annd that is about it.

However, today was a very good day! I have been actively job searching for a job in public relations or event planning or admissions in higher education. During the fall semester I interned in the office of admissions at SU and really enjoyed it and have made a lot of great contacts through that internship. Today I got a phone call from the office of admissions telling me there is an open position and they would like me to come in for an interview..tomorrow!!! I am very excited and anxious for my interview tomorrow..this will be my first interview for a real job! I have been prepping for this interview all day to be sure I am fully prepared. Wish me luck!

Tonight started the new season of a lot of great monday night tv shows. The bachelor started tonight and I have never really been a big bachelor fan, but for some reason I think I might get into it this season. He is super cute and a pilot and there are a lot of beautiful women to choose from. Make it or Break it also started tonight, the show about gymnastics. I love this show because I used to be gymnast and can relate to having no life but seeing the inside of the gym.

Off to watch more monday night tv..tomorrow will potentially be a super day! More productiveness to come this week.. like cleaning my room!

Cheers to a New Year!

What is your new years resolution? My friend Amy and I have made quite a lengthy list for the new year. Because there are so many, we decided on an overall encompassing theme of "self improvement" for 2010. After plans fell through to go to the Big Apple for NYE celebrations, Amy drove from NJ to Selinsgrove and we spent a magical night at club bots. Ha. A first for the both of us and I'm sure a last. NYE in the 'grove' is everything we thought it would be..people we've never ever seen before and people we will probably never see again. Along with of course, last call at 12:30am and don't forget the hot dogs and sauerkraut at midnight to bring good luck for 2010. Yes.. it was quite an experience.


Well one good thing that comes along with a new year is primetime TV shows. Tonight was the start of a new season of Desperate Housewives and Keeping Up With the Kardashians and there is plenty more kickoff shows coming up this week like Make it or Break it and Cougartown and of course Ugly Betty..oh and I cannot wait for a new Greys Anatomy -- my favorite. I've never really been a primetime TV show watcher, with the exception of Greys, until the end of this year. I am offically addicted now..probably not good!

2010 is going to be a great year, I can feel it already! I am officially a college graduate as of December and I am so ready to be a big girl with a big girl job.  My life is moving forward, slowly but surely, and I am ready to take on the challenges the new year brings. 

Dusting off the cobwebs!

I haven't blogged in a few months so I am having to dust the cobwebs off my blog spot account and almost start over! My last post was about my internship at the PA Department of State, which I enjoyed a lot. I am about 9 weeks into my last semester as an undergrad at Susquehanna University..only 5 more weeks to go! I can't believe my college career is winding down and coming to an end. This semester I am interning in the Office of Admissions at SU and I am really enjoying it. I am learning a lot about admissions work and I am finding that it really isn't everything I thought it was. This internship is a lot of fun and I am meeting some great people also. So in the mean-time I am applying for jobs..anywhere..seriously though, anywhere! Well, I guess that is a good update for now, back to studying science!

This would happen to me

Today I went to my internship which is in Harrisburg at the Department of State in the Office of Communications and Press. I only intern one day a week because it's an unpaid position and it's about an hour commute. Despite the drive, I love interning there! I have only been there for a few weeks so I haven't really started any projects yet, however I am working on a Twitter proposal that the previous intern started. The proposal for the Department of State to have a Twitter account is going to presented to the Secretary of the Commonwealth. I drive to city island and park my car there and take a bus into the city which conveniently drops me off directly at my building and picks up at the same spot. So I finally got the public transportation system down and had a really great day interning. I was standing outside (as literally everyone who works in the captiol was leaving, either walking or driving), and then my freakin' heel on my right shoe broke, just broke! I was mortified!! Everyone was looking at me and I was soooooo embarrassed! So it was a terrible ending to a great day.

So now that I am offically a facebook and twitter addict I decided to join the blogging network. I'm not sure if I'll be able to remember to blog everyday, but chances are I'll become obsessed with this whole idea of blogging and end up doing it all the time..so this i my first blog! More to come!
